Suggest Treatment For Raised And Painful Mole On Shoulder
Question: I have mole on my upper back behind my shoulder. It's there about 5 years. I scratched it without looking at it. I assumed it was some dry skin when it first appeared and I didn't realise it was a mole . I think at the time I scratched half off. It on occasion becomes slightly more raised and then when I touch it too much probably to examine it it eventually forms a scab and the scab falls off. I am very worried about it. It isn't growing in size - it's about 3-4mm maybe. So it tends to look like a circle but as if one half is browner than the other which I think is from me initially scratching it but I'm not certain. I have photo but not sure I can send it

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query. I guess you are concerned whether it is a common mole Or is it something more serious, like a Melanoma?
I would like you to upload a few digital photographs of the Mole. Make sure the photograph is of good clarity.
Click a few photographs of the Mole and upload. For uploading, you need to go to the upload reports section Or else you may also mail the photographs at YYYY@YYYY with the subject line as "Attn Dr. Kakkar".
Regards

I have set two photos. It looks less red in reality and more medium brown. Thank you
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I have reviewed the photograph This looks like a normal/benign mole/nevus in the photograph. It has all the features of a normal benign mole.
Normal moles are perfectly round or oval, with well defined regular margins, are less than 5 mm in diameter, even coloured.
I think you can just apply an OTC topical antibacterial because you have scratched it. Nothing else needs to be done.
Regards
