Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query.

This area is very commonly affected by fungal infections. This is more likely to happen in hot weather due to excessive sweating and friction .
I would suggest to try to keep the area clean and dry.Wash the area with plain water several times during the day and dry it.Use an anti-fungal topical cream like Clotrimazole or Miconazole twice a day for 2 weeks. If the symptoms doesn't seem to improve ,you may need to consult your doctor and get examined.

Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask if you have any question.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati

Thanks for the reply. There is a fair amount of 'weeping' or discharge of clear liquid in the area. Is this normal for this condition?

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

A fungal infection happens most commonly in warm, moist and sweaty areas of skin.In a fungal infection the skin can look moist and white ,red and rash-like ,blisters and pustules can also form.
In this case the rupture of blisters can cause a clear discharge.

I would suggest to keep the area clean and dry. Apply clotrimazole or miconazole cream twice a day for 2 weeks. If the rash doesn't seem to improve in the first week ,you may need to consult a physician and get examined.

Take care.

The condition has improved but not completely gone away. I have been using clotrimazole for 3 weeks now. Should I continue using it?
Thanks,

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

2 weeks of Clotrimazole are enough to treat a fungal infection. You should stop using it.If this skin condition hasn't healed completely ,you need to consult a physician because physical examination is necessary.
It might be a fungal infection and a topical anti-fungal cream wasn't sufficient to treat it.In this case ,your doctor can prescribe you an oral anti-fungal cream.
The other possibility ,is that it might not be a fungal infection but a chronic skin condition like dermatitis.
I would suggest to consult your treating doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena
