Question: I have a rash that I have had for 2.5 months. It appears at first as a red small bump. Then turns into a white pus looking bump. I can just rub over it and it opens. I wipe the small pus fluid away and it scabes over. It has a thin scab and comes off in a couple days. It scabs over several more times then just turns into a peeling type scab. Soon is just lighter red and is flat and seems to heal.

I have had the shingles shot and also have had shingles twice before the shot. The areas where these bumps appear are in various areas of the trump of my body. Usually only 3-4 bumps in an area.what could this be?

Brief Answer:
Possible folicullitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

I saw your picture but it is not well visible how the lesion looks.
From what you are describing though, looks like you are having folicullitis or more a bacterial infection of the skin. It cannot be herpes, because it doesn't go away that fast and also the pattern of appearing its different.

In case of folicillitis you will need to use an antibiotic. For the surface that it is affecting, for now I would say to use just a local antibiotic, because the area its small for an oral antibiotic.

So my advice is:
-- Use muporicin ointment 3 times/day on top of the lesions.
-- Do a bath where you pour some drops of povidone iodine, so the bacterias in the body will be killed.
-- Use muporicin inside the nose flares for 1-2 weeks.

Hope this is helpful.
