Suggest Treatment For Rashes Around Genitals And Perineum Area

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: I have a rash on my thigh from shaving around my genitals with a Philips Bodygroom 7100. The area just below my balls, my perineum was dry and was peeling and while I was shaving that area I started to shave the itch that the dry skin gave me, and continued to shave the peeling skin to an area around my right thigh because I felt good to shave it just like you feel good to scratch an itch. Now I have a ring around my right thigh that has been there since this spring. I was wondering how to make the scar go away, it doesn't seem to be healing by itself. I sweat a lot at work and my pants are a little wet from sweat after work which I don't think is good for the scar/rash.

Brief Answer:
Ringworm infection, requiring anti-fungal medications

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The rash is quite clearly not from the shaving you mentioned but is almost certainly a ringworm infection (not caused from worms), which is a fungal infection.

A ringworm infection is a fungal infection caused most probably from either poor hygiene, constant moist region or both. As mentioned by you, you sweat a lot at work and your pants are usually wet because of the sweat, which has helped the fungal infection thrive in the most admirable surroundings.

Following is my advise:

+Topical application of creams (miconazole, terbinafine, clotrimazole, etc.)
+Keep the region clean and dry at all times
+Carry a change of clothes when you go to work always
+Try to work in a well ventilated cool place
+Shower at least twice a day

The cause is quite clearly the moist conditions in and around the genital region and so please avoid it at any cost. Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
