Brief Answer:
Looks like a skin infection starting or a viral exanthem

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I am glad that you have already posted the images without me asking for it.

This doesn't look like a Herpes.

It looks like a viral illness associated skin exanthema or a skin infection locally.

Unless it is spreading fast or the redness is increasing or the kid has got high grade fever or pain in the region you need not worry about it. It will settle by itself.

But if any of the above signs develop I suggest you get back to your pediatrician or a dermatologist.

If there is itching you can use Hydroxyzine at 1-2mg/kg/dose every 6th to 8th hourly for 7-10 days. But this is a prescription drug and you will need one for it.

We went to the pediatrician today and he told me the same you are saying. I posted a question to dermatologist in the morning today when I noticed it and he said it looks like Herpise. It made me worried and I don't who to believe. the Doc here confirmed the same what you mentioned.

Can we wash her face? Is there anything to worry about? i was worried if it is herpese and if she got from School.

We are in US and what i read and heard says there is more herpese infection here.

1. You can wash her face

2. Nothing to worry about - Please be on the look out for the signs I suggested - rash spreading fast or the redness is increasing or the kid has got high grade fever or pain in the region.

Brief Answer:
Nothing too worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...nothing to worry about it.

Even it is Herpes it will not be painful. Herpes which comes like this will not be painful. It will cause only itching.

Only the reactivated herpes called shingles will be painful. What I mean by reactivated Herpes is that - the kid should have got a Chickenpox sometime back and the virus persisting in the nerves will get reactivated to cause shingles. This is not the case here, so do not worry.

There is no known herpes infection around where I am living. We as a family is not. Today we took her to pediatrician and as per him this is not Herpes, as it is not bumpy and no fluid filled blisters. I noticed this today morning when I was helping her brushing to school. Which is like 15 hours ago.

I visited the doc at 3:30 my time and as per him it is not herpes lessons. He thinks it could be some other infection which should subside by itself in couple of days.

What made me to ask the question is here a dermatologist thinks it could be Herpes and I was confused whom should I trust.

I can go by the clinical exam as the doctor said it is not. Also it is very small and i am not sure the herpese lessons can be too small or not.

I wanted her to have a good life. Also sorry if I confused you. But I will keep an eye over her. I hope it is not anything which I am fearing.

Brief Answer:
The link is not opening

Detailed Answer:
HI...Right now you need not worry and you need not change the bed linen and clothing.

But I feel seeing a dermatologist is prudent.

But if the lesions are not fluid filled it is unlikely to be herpes.

The link you sent is not opening in the internet.

thanks Doctor. she don't have fever and I am not sure what it is. she is a kid now and need to have a good health as she grows and I am worried if she got this and might have outbreaks in the future if it is. I can't even think about it.

We moved to US 4 months ago and this is a shocker for us if it is herpes. In XXXXXXX we never had any such things... in family or people we know.

Brief Answer:
She is in good health - small skin lesions doesn't mean ill health

Detailed Answer:
Hi....she is in good health please.

Small skin lesions doesn't mean she's having ill health.

To relieve your distress I have a few questions for you... Please get back with answers.

Please answer the questions below -

1. Is she having high grade fever?
2. Are her oral lesions increasing in size? The lesions in the image appear too small to be a herpetic lesions.
3. Is she having respiratory distress?
4. How is her appetite ...is it decreased drastically?
5. How is her activity when she's awake?
6. Is she having any decreased urine output?

If your answers for the above questions are a - NO, you need not worry that she's having any major illness.
