Question: My wife says that breath smells very sweet, and the other evening when I went to the bathroom, there was quite a bit of blood in the toilet bowl when I had finished going.

The two complaints may or may not be related.
the sweet smell can be infection by bacteria that emits order. it needs address by dentist.
The red blood in toilet bowel is surely anal fissure or external piles. You should have free bowel movement with soft stool. It is better examination by primary care doctor. You can use over the counter creams for hemorroids.
