default
Posted on Wed, 7 Dec 2016
Question: Hi I believe I need a eurologist, I'm suffering from very bad cystitis that I assumed was a UTI but now I seem unable to pass urine i.e. In retention. I did previously suffer from a simaler problem many years ago where I was catheterised and given an operation. I'm not sure what to do now and if I should wait to see someone?

Need to consult the urologist as early as possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for the query
I understand your concern and sorry to hear about your problem

Your symptoms could be due to the ongoing cystitis, and/ urinary outlet obstruction , urethritis etc..
I would suggest to consult the urologist as early as possible as this needs thorough evaluation.
Clinical and digital rectal examination and following tests help in the management.
Urine routine, microscopic and culture, serum urea and creatinine.
Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis and Transrectal Ultrasound Scanning (TRUS)
Endoscopic examination of Bladder (Cystoscopy) and urine flow test if needed.
Further treatment will depend upon the results of tests.

Hope I have answered your query
I will be happy to help you if you have further query
