Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Sore Throat Along With Congestion And Cough
Question: I've had a recurrent sore throat for about two weeks. It's accompanied by congestion and mucus, a cough that is sometimes productive and sometimes not, and I've also noticed mucus running down the back of my throat. No fever, no swollen glands. I'm worried that it's std-related, though, because it showed up three days after an unprotected encounter in which I gave a man oral sex.

The sore throat at the moment only hurts on one side of my throat. It started on the right side, moved to the left side, then both sides hurt, and now only the right side hurts. It has seemed to almost clear up three or four times now, but then it returns. I've also noticed what might be some pus on my tonsils -- but it was hard to tell.
Does it still sound like a respiratory illness? I've been using the same toothbrush since it started. Could I possibly be reinfecting myself with it?

I've had a lot of health problems since some exposure to possibly polluted water in December. I've had a rash on my legs that is still present, this problem with my throat, an eye infection that I've managed to clear up with eyedrops, and a blister on my lip -- and it feels like that may be coming back. Do you think it's possible that water may have something to do with all of this?
Thanks so much for all your help.
