Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Sore Throat
Question: I had a sore throat for nine days even after taking arithromycin on day four . I have a sore throat again ( day three) and it's only been a little over two weeks since the last one. I am a healthy 67 year old, married, 105 lbs, exercise regularly, take vitamins with no significant history of illnesses or allergies. Could this be just another virus I picked up so soon ?

It does seem that you have picked another virus. I would not suggest another round of antibiotics since you finished on the previous one just recently. Antibiotics can significantly lower your immunity by altering flora.
I would suggest that you let your immunity deal with it this time. You can try antiallergic medicines like cetirizine once or twice a day if you have runny nose and throat secretions.
If this episode does not clear up by day 10 then you may see a doctor. I am quite sure that this will start clearing up by day 5.
Also take the flu vaccine when it becomes available. Drink cleaner water and avoid contact with people who have colds.
