Dear XXXX
Greetings from healthcare magic. I am Dr Thakker and shall answer your question.
I would recommend you to undergo a tonsillectomy. This is the standard of care for recurrent episodes of tonsillitis and poly formation. Sometimes these episodes may be complicated by a tonsillar abscess formation called as quinsy. It then has to be surgically drained. We do not wish to wait till this complication to occur.
I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions please feel free to get back to me.

Thank you dr they not taking tonsils which is werid just the polyp :-( can quinsy look like a polyp
Brief Answer:
Please read the response.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me. Removing the entire tonsil is better because it will take care of the polyp and also prevent future attacks of tonsillitis. Quinsy does not look like a polyp. It presents with high grade fever, odynophagia and hot potato voice. On examination one can see the abscess formation. Polyp will not have these features.
I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX
Polyps are not caused by sore throats. Polyps are caused by hypertrophy of the epithelium and the stroma. Sore throat is just a symptom. It is a manifestation of a source of irritation in the throat. Sore throat is usually caused by viral, bacterial infections, irritant gases and fumes, smoke, wood dust etc.
