Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: I had made silver filling in some of my tooth as it was decaying one year ago but again the filled tooth has started decaying. I have some pain in one of my tooth which was filled earlier.

Should I agin get my tooth filled?

What kind of filling would be best for my tooth?

Also let us know how to get appointment and the cost involved in filling my tooth.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCAREMAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query if you have silver filling in a tooth that is decaying again that is due to secondary caries in tooth, then first of all get an x ray of the tooth done to rule out that whether the decay is still superficial or has progressed deep enough to expose the nerves..

If the decay is superficial you can get it filled with tooth coloured resin cement..

In case if decay is deep enough to expose the nerves then Root Canal Treatment has to be done..

But in the other tooth that already has pain cannot be directly filled, rather first an x ray done and most probably root canal treatment has to be done for that tooth to save the tooth and then capping has to be done..

For filling, materials like resin cements like Composite resin or Glass Ionomer Cement can be used..
Glass Ionomer cement costs around 250-500 rupees while composite resin costs around 1000-1500 rupees but rates can vary

Please write back for further queries.. ..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
