Brief Answer:
Thyroid

Detailed Answer:
Sorry to note your challenges with weight gain.

To know if you have a thyroid condition that can explain your weight problem, requires a simple blood test called TSH. Fasting is not necessary and it can be done at any time of the day. It is not an expensive test either.

But I understand what you are saying. You dont have insurance and so you do not wish to see a doctor for this yet. And it appears you will need a doctor's prescription for a laboratory to perform this test.

So if this is not an option for you at this time, one can try to assess this as follows:

1 Do you have a neck swelling ('goiter')?

2 Do any of your immediate family (such as parents or siblings) have any thyroid problem, or are they on any type of thyroid medications?

3 Do you have any of the following symptoms:

low appetite
dry skin
coarse hair
low mood
low energy
poor concentration
heavy periods
feeling colder than usual
feeling colder than others
constipation
feeling tired
brittle nails
swelling under your eyes
swelling in your legs
slow pulse (heart beat)
enlarged tongue
muscle weakness

I actually have less energy and start sweating really easily. Even if i sleep for 8 hours or more, i feel sleepy later too.

Detailed Answer:
I see.

Well you do have some symptoms of a possible thyroid problem, such as an under-active thyroid ('hypothyroidism'), although excessive sweating is not a typical feature of this.

Regardless, I hope you find some way of getting a TSH blood test requisition for a laboratory to run the test on your blood sample
