Suggest Treatment For Recurring Cold And Cough

Question: Hello Dr.
2 weeks ago my wife was having cold and cough for 10 days. Then we consulted doctor on 18-feb-2018 and Doctor prescribed below medicine
1. Calpol (Paracetamol 500mg) (for 5 days).
2. MondDeslor for 15 days - one tablet everyday ( 5 tablets left )
She felt good in 3 days after taking this medicine and there was no issue for 1 week. Now again she caught cold and cough. She is coughing more during night time.
Please let me know if we need to consult doctor again or we can wait for few more days..
Appreciate your quick reply and help .

Hello
Thanks for getting back, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply.
The fact that there is no fever but cough and phelgm signifies that this is not an infection but an allergic type of reaction which could be due to dust allergy. Here is what you should do
1. Get an Absolute eosinophil count, high AEC tells us that there is allergy
2. Tab levocetrizine twice daily will help bring down cold and cough
3. Syp Ambrolite s 2 tsp three times a day helps in bring out the phlegm
4. Make sure she covers her nose and mouth around dusty areas
5. If the problem does not settle I recommend that you see a chest medicine physician
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
