Suggest Treatment For Recurring Rash On Penile Shaft

Question: I have a reoccurring rash on the shaft of my penis. This is the third time it has happened. It has not happened in the same spots. Does not burn or hurt. The first time it happened I went to the doctor and they screened me for std's. Everything came back negative. Herpes, syphilis, and even cancer. They are uneven spread apart, "burst" when I get in the shower, and scab over by the next day. Any idea what they could be and who should I go see. This is really scarring me.

I have noted your concerns and would do my best to resolve them. I treat cases like this regularly and there is a good probability of recovery.

If I were to see you personally, I would have insisted on history and physical examination and advised you to begin the following measures

1 Good hygiene

2 No local applications except water and drying up

3 Get blood sugar levels done and rule out Diabetes

4 single tab of Flucanozole 150 mg

I would request you to upload few pics of lesions before and after they burst.
Reports, if available, should also be sent across.

At times, this could be just simple erosive balanitis which resolves spontaneously quite often. However, we would be on the safer side if the reports are evaluated and adequate action implemented.

I have uploaded a before and after picture. I probably should have also said that when they bust they almost heal right away. The last time the "scabs" which are extreamly small, only lasted 2 or 3 days. Usually they are healed by the next day or the following one. I am sexualy active, but with the same girl. The are painless, fluidless, and itchless. Hoping to god this isn't herpes! I also work in the medical feild and shower before and after my shift. I haven't checked my blood sugar, but could easily do so. Could this be something to do with diabetes?

I have examined the pics and would like test reports to be seen. You have mentioned that the tests were done recently. Please share the reports so that further guidance can be provided. Please make sure that IgM and IgG to HSV 1 and 2 are included.

In the meantime just attend to hygiene and apply Mupirocin antibiotic cream.

The test was done almost a year ago. That's how rare these "outbreaks" have been. I got them done at the free clinic and asked the doctor repeatedly to make sure the lab tested for hsv1 and hsv2. (I know that most dont). He reassured me that they would. All results came back negative.

Also as for time frame in those pictures. I noticed and took the first picture at 11pm at night and the second (more healed looking one) at 6am. So like I said it doesn't really follow with the herpes simplex healing time frame. Or maybe that's me hoping that I don't have herpes.

Welcome back. I do understand your anxiety and want to help you as best as I can.
Herpes Genitalis is a strong possibility with this profile. As you are aware, a physical examination and in person consultation is certainly a more reliable way to handle health issues.

I would advise that in such a situation, one should go for IgG test to HSV 1+2 only, at least for now and begin treatment under medical supervision. I have hundreds of patients successfully treated with use of current modalities and regular follow ups. You need not be unduly worried as I am going to provide guidance at every step, whenever you so require.
