Question: Hi I have lump which I have just noticed it is on my left foot. It is the next toe to my big toe, it is on the side but it is quite swollen, and a bit red, but does not hurt.
Can you answer my question and help me, what can I do I have not had this on my foot before but I do have a corn on my right foot, is this connected.
Brief Answer:
Needs to be examined.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The red and swollen lump on your toe that you have noticed recently is not likely to be related to the corn.
The possibilities are-
1. Hematoma- Presence of swelling in the local area with or without superficial skin discoloration. Hot fomentation will bring some relief.
2. Abscess- Usually associated with fever, pain and local tenderness. A thorough examination and antibiotics are needed. Surgical drainage may be required.
3. Soft tissue injury- Usually needs adequate rest and hot fomentation to heal. It sometimes takes 6-8 weeks to come back to normal.
4. Inflammation of the toe due to insect bite or joint inflammation.
A direct examination is necessary to find out the exact cause.
I hope this answers your query.
