Suggest Treatment For Red Bruise On The Foot

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Dec 2016
Question: I woke up yesterday morning with an oval shaped, approx 1 inch by 2 inch bluish mark on my foot, just below my toes. I had not noticed it before, and I do not recall injuring my foot in any manner. It is about 24 hours later and the bruise has turned mostly red. I showed it to a doctor (a GP), and he said it looks like you broke some blood vessels. I told him I do not recall any kind of injury to that area, and he said I might have done something and not even realize it. My fear is that it could be a result of some disease. I do not have any other similar marks on my body. So, 1) Is something to be concerned with? 2) Any way to treat it to speed healing? i.e. ice? The doctor said heat could make it worse. so does that mean I should avoid a FIR sauna that I frequent? Or do I just have to wait until the body takes care it? PS-I do take a Nitric Oxide supplement. Could that have something to do with it? (i.e, thinning the blood). I am not on any drugs/medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on Health Care Magic.

A bluish mark on the sole needs to be monitored.
Trauma or injury are most common cause of bruises.

However, in the absence of trauma or injury other causes have to be looked for.

Blue mark of this kind can occur due to platelet disorder, disorder of clotting factors or injury to vessel wall.

Before investigating for all the above mentioned disorders, it is also noteworthy to keep a history of sauna in mind.

Heat during sauna may lead to blue mark by injuring the vessel.
Thus, observe the blue mark for the time being.

In case it does not disappear within few days or more blue marks appear, you will need to consult a a hematologist for investigating the above mentioned disorders.
Nitric oxide supplement is not known cause blood thinning.

Hope this answers your query, feel free to ask further
Thanks and take care

Brief Answer:
Its good the mark as faded,be cautious for blue marks in future.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
The blue mark on top of foot does not make a difference.
Its good that the mark has faded.
I am of the opinion that it will fade away in next 24-48 hours.
If blue mark like this does not re-cur in future, there is nothing to worry.
If marks like this recur, you need to consult your hematologist.

Thanks and take care
