Suggest Treatment For Red Bumps On The Buttocks And Legs
Question: I have red bumps up that started about two weeks ago on my buttocks and legs. Now the bumps are on my buttocks and thights, my calves, concentrated on my shoulders and also on my fore arms. I went to a sulfur hot XXXXXXX right after I noticed about half a dozen bumps and the bumps have gotten worse. I also used a hot tub during this time and have went swimming a few times. The bumps range in size from small hive like bumps to larger bumps that have brown circular centers. None of the bumps are going away. Also, they itch. They itch more of course when I lay down and think about it, but is not highly annoying while moving. Every once and a while it feels like a pin prick here and there. I'm thinking I have scabies, as the bumps haven't gone away. I have half heartedly used tea tree oil and witch XXXXXXX and homeopathic scabies medicines, but not stuck to anything, which has only exacerbated the situation. Your thoughts?
Brief Answer:
Yes,there is possibility of scabies as per description.

I have uploaded the photos of my current situation. I went to the ER doctor on Saturday and they think that I have a hot tub folliculitis. They prescribed me a calcium cream called muiropircin calcium which has had the adverse effect and caused the rash to spread. It is not terribly itchy, just somewhat, and uncomfortable.
Brief Answer:
Likely to be hot tub folliculitis from the pictures.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow-up question and sending the pictures.
It looks like a hot tub folliculitis from the pictures and also you are having history of using hot tub which contains hot/warm water.
As you have this red bumps over various parts of body,it may require systemic antibiotics (ciprofloxacin orally) with analgesics (diclofenac) and antihistamines (benadryl) to get rid off completely.
Here, your doctor has diagnosed correctly but I am not fully agree with the treatment he has given (mupirocin calcium cream) rather oral antibiotics would be a better choice. Also, never use hot tub in future if it has no cleaned properly.
Mostly, this folliculitis do not require any specific treatment and may get subsided within 1 to 2 weeks but in your case, you are already having those bumps since 15 days or have exacerbated this bumps.
So,I would be better that you should see some experienced local doctor or dermatologist who can prescribe you appropriate antibiotic with symptomatic treatment as I said above.
Hope this information will help you,if you need any clarification feel free to ask me.
