Brief Answer:
Scabies
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your aunt was diagnosed with scabies. I want to aassure you that it is not serious infection, caused by mites. It starts with intense itch esp at night at flexures, buttocks, web of fingers, arm pits and navel. Other areas are also involved sometimes.
The symptoms of itch tend to increase progressively over 2-3 weeks before compelling to seek medical attention. This might be a possibility in your aunt as well. The mite could have entered sometime back and because of hot temperature it was able to gain access to other areas.
The Permethrin / Lindane treatment is very effective in clearing the mites eggs in single application. Beside some anti itch medicne would be given.
