Suggest Treatment For Red Colored Spots On Legs

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: My daughter occasionally gets skin rashes on her legs. They seem to be getting worse. Today, her legs are about 50% covered with these red spots. Now they intersect, making whole areas red. This seems to happen after drinking beer. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
allergic reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
I have viewed the photos of your daughter's legs and she seems to be having some sort of allergic reaction. The best way to determine the cause is a skin biopsy so I am glad you have that test underway. In the mean time I would suggest that she be on an antihistamine like loratadine and an H2 blocker like ranitadine. These should help calm down the reaction and make her more comfortable. She may be having a reaction to something in beer so she really needs to avoid consuming beer and other alccoholic beverages until this is sorted out.
Please let me know if you have follow up questions.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
