Suggest Treatment For Red Mark And Blister On The Penis Head

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Question: I would like to seek your advice regarding a red mark that appeared on the head of my penis around 3-4 weeks ago, I paid it little attention at first but as it hasn’t cleared up I have become a little more concerned. It started as a fairly bright red flat mark about 5 mm across and after about two weeks it had become larger and looked a bit like a very flat blister. It is not painful and does not itch and I have not noticed any other symptoms. Have you any ideas as to what it might be?

Brief Answer:
It could be due to Ballanitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have developed red bump on the glans penis since one week .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Did you have unprotected sex before getting this lesion on glans penis?
2) Do you have any urinary symptoms like frequency, burning etc?
3) Do you have any discharge from penis ?
4) Are you diabetic?

It is most likely to be infection of glans penis (Ballanitis) and need to get following basic tests done to establish diagnosis.
1) Urine routine test .
2) Swab test of a fluid from blister .

You need to take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefixime along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily .along with topical antibiotic ointment like Neosporin twice daily.

Ensure to wash your genitals with warm water twice daily.

Ensure to avoid sexual encounters till it heals up completely.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify the red mark is not raised and has been present for around 3 weeks. In response to your questions:

1. I have not had unprotected sex but did have both oral and vaginal sex using a condom with a sex worker around 6 weeks prior to red mark first appearing. In both cases there was no apparent damage to the condom.

2. No problems with passing urine.

3. No discharge.

4. My last fasting blood sugar test in Dec 2014 was within the normal range.

Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
Could be due to Ballanitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for feedback .In view of you developing he lesion 3 weeks after the sexual encounter with sex worker and it being protected .it is unlikely related to the episode.

You can start taking medication suggested earlier assuming that this is simple bacterial infection of glans penis (Balanitis).

Thanks and Regards.
