Suggest Treatment For Red Rashes On The Arms, Knee And Under The Eyes
They are red circular patches that are itchy, peeling, sometimes burning. He has been using some eczema cream on it, but it doesn't help too much. The back of his right knee got swelling today. He doesn't seem to have other symptoms except for seasonal allergy kind of running nose and sneezing. Could you tell me what it could be? I am really worried.
Eczema and its management
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have reviewed the attached photographs and your husband is having eczema.
If I was his treating doctor I would recommend him to apply potent topical steroids like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily along with frequent and liberal application of a moisturising cream containing white soft paraffin on the entire legs and arms for 2-3 weeks.
For itching I would recommend him to take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
Besides this ask him to use mild soap for bathing, avoid wearing synthetic clothes, avoid bathing with hot water and instead use lukewarm water.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
