Suggest Treatment For Red Spots On Feet And Palms While Having HFMD Infection

I agree with your doctor, give him plenty of fluids
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have gone through the details and do understand your concern very well.
I agree with your doctor and to me also it appears to be HFMD (hand foot mouth disease).
Unlike in chicken pox where rashes/vesicles starts appearing from trunk,in HFMD the rashes/blisters starts in palms and soles with involvement of mouth.
It is a viral infection and does not need any specific treatment.Lesions usually subsides without specific treatment within 7-10 days.
The main aim of management is to prevent secondary bacterial infection and to maintain adequate hydration by giving plenty of fluids.
Oral intake may decreased due to painful oral blisters.
Applying anesthetic and antiseptic solution helps in improving the appetite.Oral antibiotic helps in preventing from secondary infection.
If oral acceptance remains poor and child gets dehydrated child may need hospitalisation and iv fluid supplementation.
Decreased urine output as in your case suggests inadequate fluid intake and dehydration.
In your case I would suggest you to apply clenora gel (an anesthetic and antiseptic solution)into the oral cavity, apply calamine lotion along with antibiotic ointment (mupirocin ointment) over skin lesion.
Continue giving monocef (an antibiotic ) and paracetamol(it acts both as antipyratic and analgesic).Try to give plenty of fluids.Maintain proper hygiene to prevent secondary infection and also to avoid the spread of disease.
If child's oral intake remains low, does not passes urine, looks dehydrated or getting lethargic;take him to the doctor immediately for evaluation and management accordingly.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more query.
Wishing for your child's speedy recovery.
Thanks and regards

Also, can we give riboflavin tablets? it works for me when I get ulcers, can we give these tablets to 3 yr old?
he is just on coconut water and some flavoured yogurt today. urinated twice and passed one loose motion - sticky one. Any diet that you suggest - liquids please? its very bad, ulcers are really very painful..he is not able to take the pain! :(
You can give multivitamin syrup with zinc for early recovery
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up and I am really very sorry for delayed reply.
You can give him any kind of liquid and semisolid diet.It should be cold, less spicy and non citrus.
Multivitamins(including riboflavin) and minerals like zinc helps in early recovery by rapid epithelialisation of skin/mucosa.So I suggest you to give syrup with multivitamin and zinc.
Its good to know that he has passed urine.I wont get worried for altered stool pattern unless it leads to dehydration.
The blisters in HFMD are usually painful. As I mentioned earlier paracetamol acts both as analgesic and antipyratic, and it is very safe medicine. So I would recommend you to give him paracetamol round the clock(three to four times a day)even in absence of fever as it helps in decreasing pain and thus the oral intake would improve. If pain persists you can give a more potent analgesic like ibuprofen.
Continue giving fluids and semisolid diet.
With all these measures I hope he would soon be fine.
Thanks and regards

candid mouth paint is used in fungal infection
Detailed Answer:
I do understand your concern.
Candid mouth paint won't help much as it is an antifungal preparation without any analgesic or anesthetic property.
I would suggest you to apply clenora gel.If needed use it more frequently say 4-6 times a day.
Also give Ibuprofen for better pain relief.Keep patience an give some time for improvement.
If oral acceptance remains poor or urinary frequency gets decreased consult your pediatrician.
Regards

You can continue using zytee lotion with glycerine
Detailed Answer:
Clenora gel contains choline salicylate(an analgesic),lignocaine (an anesthetic agent),cetrimide (an antiseptic).
Zytee contains choline salicylate mainly.
If you are not getting clenora you can continue using Zytee lotion along with glycerine.
It is also good for mouth ulcers.
I hope he is getting better now.
