Suggest Treatment For Red Swollen Spot On Forearm
Question: my son is 6yrs 4 mnths old had a red swollen round area on his right forearm 3 weeks back and we went to a derma doc and the doc said most probably it was an insect bite.
the doc prescribed teczim 5 ml for 7 days and fudic bnf cream for 3 weeks. in the first 7-8 days the outside part redness area reduced and a lump of 1cm x 2cm formed which is still there. there is not much pain and the doc said to continue fudic bnf cream for a month and said it might take 6 weeks for the lump to completely go. we went to our pedriatician for a 2nd opinion and he gave antibiotic sporidex redimix 250mg per 30ml , dosage 6.5ml 3 times a day for 6 days and said this lump should be removed and also asked for a usg done.
we went to a radiologist for an usg and he on physical examination said no usg is required as it was a kind of a boil which will resolve on its own.
due to the different approaches of doctors we r so confused what to do.this problem i had asked here but was not satisfied by the answer.
the question is that can we leave the lump to its own and will it regress on its own in 3-4 weeks to come .the first it happened was 3 weeks back

Brief Answer:
Photograph required
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
It is probably a fibrosed area and might not require any treatment.
If there is no pain nothing is required to be done.
It should resolve on its own.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Thank you.

Don't touch it frequently , just observe it daily.

Don't worry it's nothing serious.
Just relax.
Removal is not required.
No need to wash with saline.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

sir is it normal for the size to remain the same even after 20 days and how many more weeks it may take to reduce or completely go and if doesnt reduce in 4 weeks then what should be done. my mind was clear sir but being a small kid and different opinion of the doctors really made me lose sleep and has become a nightmare for me so much so that whole night i keep seeing it....u may find my questions wierd but in nervous since 2 doctors said it shud be removed or else bad things might happen and 2 docs said leave it as it is
Brief Answer:
Wait for 4 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Your questions are not wiered.
I can definitely understand your concern.
Sometimes after an infection a fibrous tissue is formed at the site.
This leads to formation of hard asymptomatic nodule.
If there was infection child would have had pain fever and other symptoms.
I suggest you to wait for another 4 weeks.
It should regress by then.
If it doesn't regress then we can go for topical steroids which will dissolve the fibrous tissue and reduce the hard lump.
Just keep a watch.
You don't need to worry much or keep checking it.
Feel free to ask any other doubt you have.
We are here to help you.
Thank you.
