Problem has been for a few months. It use to be more at night, but now its when I wake up and more often during the day. I have no other ear related isdues that I am aware of. Does not really hurt just burns. Yes, it happens in both ears sometimes though more redness in one. No illness that I am aware of. I occasionally take a small dose of zanac for anxiety. Not any particular stress. I do worry about this problem. Thank you for your help

Emotion, stress and panic attack are the causes. As you have mentioned about the anxiety it might be a cause.
Then we have to rule out external environment factor, like long exposure to sunlight or exposure to cold or snow.
Other possibilities is thyroid releted issue, so I would suggest you to get thyroid function test.
