Suggest Treatment For Reduced Bilirubin Levels And Jaundice

Question: Zikra (New born baby) was born on 16-Dec-2014 by C-section & weigted 3.5 kg, Blood Group B(-), Mother's Bld grp-B+ve..due to incompatibility she had jaundice on 18-Dec-2014 ( 16.5 bilirubin diagnosed on 19-Dec)..hence she was kept under Double phototherapy for 4 days & was provided gardinal syrup orally twice every 24 hrs & was discharged along with her mother on 22nd Dec-2014 when her bilirubin reduced to below 11..and was advised sunbath morning & evening for 15 days..
However was not provided the vaccination of BCG,OPV & Hep-B as was advised to take the same from Govt. hospital within a month.
We visited Govt hosp on 31-Dec where they gave single injection of BCG(they have ticked on BCG column only) & Oral dose (probably of POLIO) but not given Hep-B & asked to visit after 1 month for next dose..
I am worried about Hep-b vaccine not given????
Pls suggest way forward

Thanks for writing to us.
I understand that your baby was not given hep b vaccine.
The first dose of hep b should be given after birth as early as possible.
It can be given upto 6 weeks after birth.
But I suggest you take it from local hospital ASAP
It is available all over.
Don't know why your hospital is delaying.
Check with them or local clinic.

Thank you so much Dr. XXXXXXX .is it the possibility that they9Govt Hospital) had given 2 vaccines in 1 injection(BCG & HEP-B)???
However they had mention only 1 vaccine (BCG) in the column given in the chart.
I will surely go & check with them again..

Bcg is given in the arm.
It cannot be given together in the same spot with hep b.
Hep b needs to be given in thigh
You can check with your hospital.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX Further to our earlier conversation, I would like to inform you that today i had visited the Govt hospital again & provided the Hep-b vaccine to my daughter. Let me remind you in brief tht she was born on 16-Dec-2014 & there in pvt. hospital they did not provide any vaccination & asked us to get BCG,OPV & Hep-B within 1 month. Govt hospital gave her BCG & OPV on 30-Dec-2014 but did not provide the Hep-B. Today i visited again and got the same done (Hep-B vaccination)for my baby. Now pls advise me when is supposed to get her another(2nd Dose of Hep-B vaccination) after 1& half month from birth or 1& half month from today???

Hi
Take the second dose one month from now.
You can delay upto one and a half months but not longer for the second dose.
The third dose of hep b is six months from today.
The other Vaccines can be given in their usual schedule.
