Suggest Treatment For Refractive Error In Vision Of A Child
Question: I need advice of eye specialist: 9 years old girl is facing problem in long distance, semi long distance vision. Local doctors are often prescribing (in a span of one month) new powers of Lens of varying degrees say, -0.75 , -1.25, -1.50 etc. Is it due to allergy or any neurological or muscle tone disorder? Apparently she is healthy and jubilant.

If there is error of vision the proper refraction is to be done. What was the visual acuity before taking specs?From prescription it is observed that she is having myopia with spherical and cylindrical defect. Please clarify whether after taking correction was she comfortable in visual acuity? Allergy can not contribute to refractive error.For neurological and muscle tone problem function of all muscle are to be tested. If every thing is normal then she can take the power and observe for improvement of symptoms.CT scan or drug using are not required. This is my opinion.

As you have asked for her visual acuity after correction I must say that today she has taken specs and not fully comfortable with her visual acuity after few hours of taking her spec.

this is most important part of refraction. she should have taken corection after satisfaction.what i have seen from power given is spherical and cylindrical. in one eye it is spherical and other sphere and cylinder. after corection the acuity is 6/9. it is not very satisfactory. what is acuity without correction? some time it takes little time for adaptation to specs in that case she can use it for 6months and again have refraction after 6months. she herself should say and agree for specs. her binocularity is to be tested. there is a chance of anisometropia. phoria is to be excluded by cover test.
