Suggest Treatment For Refractory Chronic UTI
Question: hi
ive recently had a TURP and bladder XXXXXXX incision as ive had recurring UTI for a year now (im49)
i got a nasty bout of cystitus 4 days after the op and have been on every antibiotic since as i tested positive for a UTI 2 weeks ago. im now on the last antibiotic thats sensitive to my strain of bacteria and im not holding my breath !! Basically what options do i have left to sort this infection ?
i can only think of IV treatment in hospital
please can you set my mind at rest at all ?

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone Bladder Neck Incision (TUIP) for repeated UTI due to Bladder Outlet Obstruction very recently and now facing problem of UTI which is not responding even to antibiotics to which the organisms are detected to be sensitive in urine culture report.
In majority of cases of refractory Chronic UTI bacteria change their sensitivity pattern very frequently over a period of short time .Hence I would suggest you to repeat Urine culture test to find out the antibiotic sensitivity pattern and so that you can switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per new culture report .
