Question: My nephew is 3 years old and he was advised nebulization every 2 hours. He is to be discharged now. The child is not cooperative and nebulization is difficult to do single handedly at home. Are there any tips? else alternatives?

Brief Answer:
try inhalers with pediatric masks

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
You mentioned that your nephew is being given nebulisations every 2 hours.
If he is being discharged it is better to continue the same medicines as inhalers with pediatric masks and spacer.
Enquire with your treating doctor about the same.
I am sure he will prescribe inhalers for home use.
Better to learn how to administer the inhaler while you are in the hospital.
Usually we prescribe bronchodilators for a week after discharge.
Wishing your nephew good health.
Regards
Dr Arun
