Suggest Treatment For Respiratory Infection In A Child
My 2 yrs 3 months old daugher is suffering from severe cough from past one week. She also had mild fever for 2 days. We consulted her pediatrician on 22nd Sept. after which medicines were prescribed(details provided in below column). Her fever is gone now but she still is suffering from very severe cough. It becomes more acute in the morning once she wakes up & also during night often resulting into vomits. During day time she is ok.
Pl confirm whether below medicines prescribed are ok. Also, how long she will take to fully recover. As per her doctor, it is 'coz of viral due to double season & will take time.
May take one more week for resolution

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Mr XXXXXXX
The above medicine prescribed are okay. Majority of respiratory infection are viral in origin and self limiting. Complete recover may take one more week time.
The medicine that habve been prescribed are
1. Moxforce : Its an antibiotic which is empirically used in respiratory infection
2. Pkanokuf: Antitussive
3. Liquid Respira: It decreases the viscosity of secretion
If the following criteria are fullfilled there is no cause for concern
1. Fever : If present is less than 39 C
2. Baby accepeting feeds well
3. Respiration is quite and not hurried
4. No flaring of nose or retraction of chest while breathing
5. Child is playful
Apart from your doctor advise , I would also suggest the following
The cause of persistent symptoms is likely to be due to
1. Persistent Hyper reactivity of airways : Some children develop airway hyper receativity following infection
2. Persistent infection
In the absence of fever it is likely to be due to 1st cause.
I would suggest the following remedy
1. Steam inhalation: preferably using electronic steamer , 10-15min each session thrice a day(maintain safe distance)
2. Warm Saline gargling: To a glass of lukewarm add 2 spoons of salt. Make baby gargle
3. Decoction: 1 cup of milk+ 20 Tulsi leaves+ 1 spoon of turmeric+ 2 spoon sugar. Bring it to boil. Filter it and give child warm. Give it thrice a day
The above remedy will be very helpful
Wishing your XXXXXXX speedy recovery
Take Care
