Suggest Treatment For Respiratory Tract Infection In A Toddler

Continue same antibiotic
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Sir
Majority of Respiratory infection are viral in origin and I do not personally recommend any antibiotics.
Antibiotics are to be used only for specific indication.
You can safely give Paracetamol every 4th hourly.
Apart from medicine prescribed by your physician, I would also recommend the following
1. Tepid sponging of body 20 minutes after Paracetamol
2. Steam inhalation Preferably using electronic steamer *do maintain safe distance
3. Decoction : 1 cup of milk + 2 spoon sugar + 1 / 2 spoon turmeric + 20 Tulsi leaves. Bring to boil. Filter it and feed baby warm ththrice a day.
This will have soothing effect on throat
4. As you have started antibiotics, continue giving the same antibiotic. Antibiotics are usually guided by clinical experience of Pediatrician and not by single previous episode of positive results .
Remember in documented infection due to bacterial also , the antibiotics require at least 48 hours to act and decrease the frequency or severity of Fever
4. Honey : To a spoon of honey add 2 drops of fresh lemon juice. Make baby sip it thrice a day.
Wishing your son speedy recovery.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take care
Best regards
Dr Deepak Kaltari

Either of the medication can be given
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good morning
Either you can give combination of Paracetamol +Ibuprofen or rectal Diclofenac. Fever Will usually subside in 2 to 3 days of time. There is no cause of concern if the fever is less than 100.4 °F .
Whether it is streptococcal cam only be attributed on clinical examination and substantiated by throat swab examination (which is not normally required )
Take care
Best regards
Dr Deepak
