Suggest Treatment For Respiratory Tract Infection

Question: My son is 14months old, weighing 10kg. He is having fever since morning today. We have given him 2.5ml of crocin drops at 10am. We tried to give him another dose at 7:15pm, but he threw some part of it out. Do I need to give him crocin drops again as he did not swallow some part? He is also having cold. Can sponging be done as he is already having cold?

Brief Answer: crocin syrups,antihistaminic required Detailed Answer: Hi Dear Welcome to the HCM, Child is suffering with Respiratory tract infection (Cause probably viral). 10 kg child to be given atleast 5 ml of crocin syrup (not drops). Drops are usually bitter. Crocin can be repeated every four hourly or when required. Along with the crocin he should be given some antihistaminic syrup along with decongestant like (syrup sinarest af). Usually such viral infection give peaks of fever for 3 to 4 days later on fever subsides, If even with crocin syrup fever do not respond then he can be given occasionally syrup mefenamic Acid (Meftal P). Tepid water sponging always can be done along with cold also. Hope the query is answered. Please feel free for further clarification. Thanks
