Question: Last year for my annual eye checkup my ophthalmologist told me I was at risk for a retinal tear. I have been experience more pain around my left eye, as well as floating specks of light, it also seems as though there is something actually blocking my vision. I know that I need to get this checked out but is this an emergency room visit worthy as it is the weekend?

Brief Answer:
Wait for an expert consultant.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.

You have to be examined by a retina expert, that level of expertise is not likely to be available in the emergency room. Though emergency room may give you a broad outline by checking your eyesight, thereby reassuring you that there is nothing wrong with you.

Have an appointment with a retina specialist and keep track of your retinal checkups periodically.

Any further queries in the regard, please do get back to me.
Regards
