Suggest Treatment For Rise In BP Due To Anxiety And Stress

My blood pressure continued to be on the high side despite the Amlodipine. Last Sunday I felt particularly flushed and a bit tight around the chest with a slight headache. My BP w as 170 over 100. A friend advised that I went to the Spanish amblatorio where a medic checked it and gave me 5mg diazapam and told to wait for 30 mins. He took it again and it was down to 135 over 85. Do you think I am on the correct medication or should I be on something for anxiety or both. I can feel my BP rise with any minor stress. Even a phone call will trigger the flushed face etc. thank you.
add a safe anti anxiety drug to help yourself
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The point that your Blood pressure came down with diazepam is more in favour of blood pressure rise associated with anxiety. Also, your symptom of BP rising with every stress is also suggestive of mainly anxiety behind all this.
I would suggest that you add a good and cardio- safe anti anxiety drug to your current blood pressure drug.
This will not only help in BP control but also treat anxiety.
Recurrent episodes of anxiety are not good for heart in anyway.
It will be wise that you get your blood tests- TSH, Renal function tests.
Also, if you want to rule out any cardiac problem - get BP checked thrice or twice a day for few days consecutively and see if there is a patern in rise..
Hope you got the point.
Please feel free to ask more questions for clarification.
Wish you good health!

As I said in my profile I can jog on a machine for 30 mins with no discomfort but have repeatedly mentioned my hot head and flushing at rest to my doc. An ECG last year was all ok.
Thank you again.
take anti anxiety, relaxation exercise &quit drink
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Given by the details now I can almost say that you should start an anti anxiety drug. Sertraline or escitalopram should be good choice now as you are hypertensive [unlike mirazapine which is not a good choice anymore] .
Dont worry, continue with your exercise routine but add deep relaxation techniques to it...a relxation technique is - deep breathing yoga ..you can search for that on internet & start practicing it and you will be able to handle stress more efficiently.
And most importantly, please stop alcohol completely, this gives more harm than anygood to some one like you. You follow such a helathy routine otherwise that I simply cant understand why you are continuing with alcohol...you are already aware of its all potential dangerous efffects on your heart and mind...
So, get say good byee to drinking , hello to healthy living!
Good luck.
