Suggest Treatment For Rough And Brittle Nails In A Hypertensive Person
Question: I've noticed ridges running horizontally on my thumbnail. The nail feels rough and brittle. This developed after an infection in kidneys and blood. Could it be related? Also blood work showed a higher than normal platelet count of 518. I have high blood pressure, hypothyroid, and diabetes, though the diabetes is under good control with metformin. Could the nail ridges be a sign of some kind of disease?
Brief Answer:
Ok
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your question on HealthcareMagic.
The ridges on your nails could be due to two reasons one is calcium deficiency which is possible due to the kidney disease.
The other could be due to fungal infection which is due to diabetes.
Please start using Tab Shelcal 500mg daily and candid derma ointment locally twice a day for 10 days.
Don't worry about thrombocytosis it is due to the kidney disease. Once the kidney gets better even the platelets will settle down.
Hope this helps
Best wishes
