Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose
Question: My 3 year old son has a runny nose since yesterday. I noticed he was sucking his lower lip and applying pressure to it with his top teeth, mostly in an effort to slow the runny nose ( he hates having his nose wiped). Last night at bedtime I noticed a white spot on his lower lip. No swelling or redness, just a white spot that looked like broken skin. It dried out during the night and now looks greenish/white. Could it be a cold sore? I'm so worried about my kids getting cold sores! It certainly doesn't look like any cold sore I've ever had, but I don't know what else it could be!

I am so sorry to hear about what you have reported. A certain no one would like the child having a cold sore. Cold sores develop over a few days and visibly become a sore before crusting. From what you described, this is unlikely to be one. I rather suspect that he caused a minor trauma no the tissue of the lower lip that led to a death tissue that dried over the night.

These were the best photos i could get. The best way to describe it is a flap of skin. It keeps changing shapes. I think youre right about it being dead tissue .
