Suggest Treatment For Rupture Of The Plantar Fascia

Immobilization is important using brace or cast
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
Sorry to hear about the injury and wish you a quick recovery.
The main treatment of rupture of the plantar fascia is immobilization. Immobilization does not necessarily mean a cast on your foot. Presently many devices are available like a foot brace or walking boot and night splints which can be worn over your foot and heel to give you support. Its true that you need to minimize the use of your affected foot for better healing and to avoid complication.
You have done the right first aid in following RICE (rest, ice, anti inflammatory medications etc).
The MRI shows that the fan like ligament (plantar fascia) under the skin in the heel region has been ruptured or detached due to trauma. This can be associated with a small break in the heel bone due to the force of the pulling apart of the ligament (plantar fascia) layer. Though major fractures are seen on MRI, minor fractures require a CT scan to be done hence the need for one.
Your doctor may also give you medications to control pain and discomfort. Surgery is usually not required for rupture of plantar fascia .
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
