Oral steroid should be stopped
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the image. I can see red patch at the forehead extending on to the anterior hair line.
Oral steroids i.e prednisolone is not a treatment for limited scalp involvement with psoriasis, even though topical steroids formulations are a commonly used treatment modality in scalp psoriasis. Though oral steroids would initially bring a dramatic relief in your skin condition however the disease is bound to relapse and with increased activity soon after oral steroid is discontinued, as you must have noticed when your disease relapsed after discontinuing prednisolone.
As a treating doctor I usually recommend topical steroid+salicylic acid as a combination in a lotion form for my patients of scalp psoriasis along with coal tar+salicylic acid based shampoo e.g ionax-t, which you are already using.
Another option is to use a topical vitamin D analogue e.g calcipotriol instead of topical steroid+salicylic acid lotion.
You run a risk of rebound flare soon after you stop wysolone i.e prednisolone.
I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity regarding management.
For itching i would suggest that you take a tablet of cetrizine 10mg once daily in evening.
