Scaly plaques over Scalp
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
From your description it looks like you are having scalp psoriasis. I cannot be hundred percent sure without seeing it. You have an option of uploading reports on the right side of the query page, kindly upload pictures of your skin lesions so that I can have a look.
Psoriasis is a genetic skin disease and is seen in 2 out of hundred people. In some patients it can be seen only over scalp, in some patients other parts of body can also be affected, elbows and knees are one of the most common sites involved.
Psoriasis needs long term follow up and treatment with a good dermatologist. Topical steroid lotion and shampoos will be the first line of treatment. Severe stress, smoking, alcohol intake, infections and pain killers make psoriasis worse.
Hope this helped,
Take care.

I usually treat such cases of psoriasis with Topisal 3 percent lotion twice daily application and a shampoo called Ionax T for bath.
Avoid smoking and alcohol. Decrease your stress, relaxation exercises like yoga helps.

Hello,
Welcome back,
Did you not show your doctor the elbow lesion? She has diagnosed it as Seborrhoeic dermatitis and not scalp Psoriasis. I do not think this is seborrhoeic dermatitis. The scales on the scalp are thick and silvery white. Elbows are not involved in seborrhoeic dermatitis but in Psoriasis. However the shampoos that she has prescribed will work even in Psoriasis. I would ask you to take a second opinion from another MD dermatologist. You will need a topical steroid lotion for good improvement.
Take care.
