Suggest Treatment For Sciatica Pain While Treating Lumbar Disc Herniation
I have lower lumbar L2-L5 bulging discs and a complete tear to lateral meniscus
BUT today woke with left leg barley able to hold weight, gaited walking, sever sciatiatic pain, going down back of thigh, calf hurts front and back and pain into the foot, numbness and tingling and I have a high pain tolerance - this hurts so much I am having trouble focusing
fortunately it is my left leg and not my driving leg, as I have no one to drive me anyway. I am at work and have to be here at least 3 more hours but this hurts so bad.
I did completely natural childbirth twice, have trans vaginal mesh that I have had 4 revisions surgeries on, suffer from cervical spine issues, lower lumbar, complete tear to lateral meniscus but this I woke up with and cannot get past this. alot of shin pain as well and several tender areas in left shin (some moderte swelling in shin and around knee swollen on outer edge (where the meniscus tear is- which happens from time to time- not very alarming)
there are a few more options
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
let me start with this... if you only have pain and tingling that's OK and you can keep trying with the drugs. But if you have problems with motor function, you should visit an orthopedics specialist at once.
Usually paracetamol (acetaminophen) with opioids and NSAIDs are sufficient to control the pain. Bed rest (recumbent, head elevated a little) for a couple of days also helps. If the pain is unbearable despite treatment with the aforementioned regimen then further measures can be taken. Drugs for neuropathic pain may provide additional help. Gabapentin and pregabalin are such drugs. There are some side effects related to their use and driving might become difficult but they'll probably help with the symptoms. Corticosteroids is another option. Your doctor should decide whether you're an appropriate candidate for any kind of treatment.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind regards!
