Suggest Treatment For Sebaceous Hyperplasia On Forehead

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: Hi,

I have quiet a few sebaceous hyperplasia on my forehead. Some look like tiny craters with a dimple in the middle and this one (pic attatched) is more of a pimple shape but does have a small hole/pore in the center. Is this still a sebaceous hyperplasia or maybe a milia cyst. As it seems to contain a substance could i XXXXXXX this or squeeze it? Or is there something i can put on it?

Brief Answer:
A white head/ closed comedone

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image
This one seems like a closed comedone/ a white head, as it also contains a central indendation.
I would suggest that you use either tretinoin 0.025% cream, once daily at night Or you may also get it extracted with a comedone extractor.

Brief Answer:
A closed comedone would be a better term to use

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

It is a 'Closed comedone', which is a better denotation, for a white head. The term white head is only used in reference to the other kind of comedone i. e open comedone Or a black head, which are common on nose.
A white head does not mean that it would have a pus point or something like that. It appears 'white' as compared to the 'black appearance' of an open comedone.
