Brief Answer:
Management of seborrhoeic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it is looking like seborrhoeic dermatitis.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to use a shampoo containing combination of ketoconazole and salicylic acid twice weekly and apply a lotion containing combination of beclomethasone and Clotrimazole on the red and scaly areas twice daily for 2-3 weeks.
Once the redness and scaling decreases you can stop the lotion but you need to continue with the shampoo as seborrhoeic dermatitis is a chronic disease and can again recur.
In severe cases of seborrhoeic dermatitis I also recommend my patients to take oral antifungal like capsule itraconazole 100 mg twice daily for 10-14 days.
In cases associated with itching I recommend them to take tablet levocetrizine 5 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

Dr Asmeet

I already have a prescrition for Ketoconazole shampoo. I use it three times weekly. What should I ask my PCP to prescribe me so it can go away? I scratch it and it bleeds. The discharge is getting all over my pillow cases and is seeping down to the pillow itself. It's a brown discharge.

Brief Answer:
Ketoconazole +salicylic acid shampoo, tablet Cetrizine and cephalexin

Detailed Answer:
Ask your doctor to give a ketoconazole + salicylic acid combination shampoo as it will take care of your discharge and reduce it along with a lotion containing combination of clotrimazole and beclomethasone on the affected areas of the scalp and behind the area twice daily.
Ketoconazole shampoo alone won't solve your problem.
Also ask him to give you antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg twice daily to reduce the scratching and itching and tablet cephalexin 500 mg twice daily to reduce the infective pathology.
