Suggest Treatment For Semen Infection
I went through a semen analysis 5 months back which came back normal in all aspects. As we are ttc, our gynec asked me to go for a fresh semen analysis. The fresh semen analysis was done with only 2 days of abstinence from sex. The sperm count and motility is excellent but it shows that the viscosity is abnormal and that it does not liquefies even after 3 hours. also they have mentioned plenty pus cells and 2_3 rbc hpf. I am really worried why has this happened as my previous analysis was absolutely fine. can you please tell me if it is due to not following the instruction of atleast 3 days abstinence for the test or is it something big? and what should be my line of action for this problem.
il really appreciate your suppport
You have semen infection.

Hello Atri
Thanks for writing to HCM
I have gone through your reports in detail.Latest report suggests semen infection.
Infection is indicated by the presence of plenty pus cells and RBC in semen. Normally there shouldn't be any pus cells in semen.Increased liquefaction time is also due to infection.
Infection may be due to prostatitis,UTI.
You need antibiotics for infection.
You need few more investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,Ultrasound of pelvis, semen culture and sensitivity.Trans rectal sonography of prostate can be done if needed.
Proper antibiotics should be prescribed depending upon sensitivity report.
Fertility will definitely improve with control of infection.
It is good that other findings like sperm count and motility are within normal limit.
Findings are not related to not adhering to 3 days abstinence.
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.

Can we continue ttc while dealing with this infection?
Also, can this be transmitted through sexual contact? or could it be an std in the first place?
my total semen volume was 5 ml with a sperm concentration of 96 million per ml , progressive motility is 75 percent. and ph is 8.
could it also be a lab fault, should I go for another analysis to reconfirm?
Please find detail answer below.
