Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: sever itching in the groin area-I have tried over the counter sprays for jock itch that has no effect. itch seems worse after a shower and at night. spray powders help only for a short time, I try to keep the area dry and change under-ware 4 or 5 times a day. the problem has been going on for a year or more and is not responding to any kind of skin lotions like (skinfix) or anti itch creams for jock itch. condition seems better during the daytime.

Brief Answer:
fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you have developed a fungal infection.
You need treatment with oral as well as topical anti fungals for permanent cure.
I treat such patients with ointment clotrimazole and oral Fluconazole tablet for a month.
I have seen good response with that.
You can try this.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
