Suggest Treatment For Sever Lower Back Pain And UTI

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Sep 2016
Question: Last wednesday (8/31/2016) I had to go to the doctor for unbelieveable severe lower back pain. I did a urinary sample, she said it was a sigficate, massive infection in my urinary tract. I have had UTI's off and on for 35 years, but nothing like this. She proscribed Bactrim. I started taking it right away. I have to go back to work on Tuesday (09/06/2016) and I still dont fee much better. She said I did not need a follow up. I wanted to leave a sample on Saturday, but couldnt because they were closed. They will be closed on Monday also. Is it normal to take so long to feel better?

Brief Answer:
Ideally you should have been advised to take appropriate antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .You had severe pain in back and was diagnosed to have acute UTI and was prescribed Bactrim which has failed to give satisfactory response .

Ideally in severe cases of established diagnosis of UTI it is advised to do urine culture and take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report.

I would suggest you to get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
