Brief Answer:
Probiotics and soluble fiber diet necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Cramps due to abdominal distention secondary to gas formation in intestine. This irritation causes the intestine to produce mucus.
2. Change in bacterial flora and low fiber or insoluble fiber in diet can cause this.
3. You need to take probiotics and yoghurt yo improve normal bacteria. Also soluble fiber in diet from fruits and vegetables is necessary. If any diet is increasing gas production like legumes or pulses, avoid it for a week or two. Continue with probiotics and soluble fiber diet for two weeks for improvement.
4. Also adequate hydration is necessary. With fiber in diet, constipation will stop. Laxative maybe not necessary, but look into diet and probiotics.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
