Question: what does it mean when you have mucus in your bowel movements and have abdominal pain?

Brief Answer:
Hello. It could be irritable bowel syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Irritable bowel syndrome can cause these symptoms, but a bacterial colitis or pancreatitis can also do that. You need to see a doctor for blood work, an exam, and a ct scan of your abdomen. Irritable bowel syndrome can be treated with medications like Levsin or Bentyl. Bacterial colitis would require a course of oral antibiotics.

Had a CT of ab/pelvis done. Results were diffuse hepatic steatosis and consistent with enterocolitis, possibly infection. They are going to have me see a GI specialist at the end of the month

Hello again.. You have fatty liver syndrome

Hello. Fatty liver syndrome can be treated with diet and statin drugs like Lipitor. If you have bacterial colitis that can be evaluated with a stool sample for culture and sensitivity and treated with appropriate antibiotics
