Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

It is hard to know exactly what this symptom is without the advantage of examining you, but I can provide some thoughts on various things that might be going on:

If the thumping is in the midline of your abdomen, this could be that abdominal aorta. This is a very large blood vessel that comes down from your heart and provides blood to the abdomen and lower part of your body. If the thumping correlates with your pulse or heart beat, then the thumping may be from that. In which case an abdominal ultrasound would be advisable to make sure there is nothing wrong there.

It could be from your traverse colon, part of the large intestine that runs horizontally across your abdomen. If there is gas or digestive movement going across there, it might feel like thumping. This would be innocuous and nothing to worry about.

Sometimes people have cramping in their colon too. Again, not a problem unless it is causing pain.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
