Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have gone through your complaints and do understand your concern.
Yes omnacortil is a steroid and is not routinely prescribed in the treatment of acne but in some persons with severe acne a short course of oral steroids can be taken.
Oral steroids reduce the inflammatory lesions associated with acne so that the chances of pigmentation and scarring are reduced.
If given for a short duration of 10-14 days they won't cause any side effects.
Their long term use in acne is not recommended.

Dr Asmeet
