Suggest Treatment For Severe Acne
Question: Hello,
I am 40 year old woman with acne and blemishes, taking dermatologist's treatment for a few months now but no help in acne control. My major area of concern is acne on the face and arms. I have oily/combination skin that gets too dry in winter and hence causes acne to worsen. Please suggest something to cure acne and clear the skin which is too dull. Attaching my current dermatologist's prescription that seems to have worsened the situation.
I am not taking any other medication nor do I have any other health issue. Kindly suggest the best suited topical treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have reviewed the images and prescription.
I would suggest you to take Capsule involym 408mg (lymecycline) once daily at night.
Topically you may use Microbenz 3.5% gel (contains benzoyl peroxide) for day time application. At night you may use Deriva-CMS gel (contains adapalene and ckindamycin) over the whole affected area.
Use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion, 2x daily before applying medications.
Regards

Can you please suggest some soap for cleansing the affected area except face?
Also, will the ointments that you mentioned, i hope they won't cause skin darkening?
Since blemishes are also a big concern to me.

Hello
The Microbenz 3.5% gel stings badly when applied. Is it normal?
The Microbenz 3.5% gel stings badly when applied. Is it normal?
Brief Answer:
Benzoyl peroxide can irritate
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
A slight burning is normal with microbenz gel (benzoyl peroxide). However, if it stings badly or cause redness you may use it on alternate days rather than daily. Use as a thin film. Don't apply too much.
