Suggest Treatment For Severe And Prolonged Cough

Question: Good Morning
My wife has had a cough since the middle of April. She had been diagnosed with
severe sinusitis. She was referred to a specialist but was advised that it was not
serious enough and there will be a 4-6 month wait. Some days/nights she will cough
3 times a minute for 3-4 hours in a row!!! It is affecting her health and wearing her
down as well as all of us around her. Nothing seems to help - steroid puffers - codeine
cough syrup - vaporisers... The alberta health care system is failing us. We are in
Edmonton. Can we pay to book an appointment with a Dr. in Quebec? If not - we will travel
to the USA for help...
Thanks

Brief Answer:
yes it merits further evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
thanks for your query.
Your wife's symptoms are a bit severe and can't be dismissed off as sinusitis or asthma. Definitely merits further evaluation. I would consider getting a pulmonology consult. If you are unable to get that in Alberta, you are right in going elsewhere.
You can try getting an appointment of Dr XXXXXXX Laughrea, pulmonologist at Quebec. The following link may be useful http://www.yyyyyyy.com/medecin/
Otherwise there are many options in USA.
Hope this helps. I will be available for further followup.
